SJWCD Watershed Restoration Project, September 13

San Juan Water Conservancy District is sponsoring a low-tech restoration project to conserve water. Monica Nigon, Americorps / Western Colorado University graduate intern, designed the project. Monica will lead volunteers in repairing a degraded drainage near the Turkey Springs Trailhead. The project employs cost-effective natural solutions including Zeedyk structures and Zuni holes. Repairing the drainages is proven to retain water in the soil of pasture and forest lands.

To volunteer on Saturday, September 13, contact Monica at mnigon.sjwcd@gmail.com or 719-581-0902. About 20 volunteers are needed and lunch will be provided.
